AltaVista: This program has been replaced by Overture Site Match

AskJeeves Site Submit: 12 month non-preferential inclusion that also includes listing with other members of the Teoma Search Network (Teoma, Metacrawler, Excite, iLor, MySearch, MyWay, Ixquick, Mamma, Hotbot and Search123). US$30 for the first site and US$18 for each site after that. Submissions are handled by a variety of resellers.

Excite - Gauranteed Inclusion: 12 month non-preferential inclusion that also includes listing on Dogpile, Metacrawler, WebCrawler, Verizon and NBC. US$49.95 for the first page and US$99.95 for each page after that.

Google - Adwords: Pay-Per-Click advertsing based on keyword bidding. The ads appear in the right hand sidebar of the Google results pages and the highest bidder has the top ad spot. Google Adwords ads are also available for distribution to other sites through the Google AdSense program.

Inktomi: This program has been replaced by Overture Site Match (see below)

LookSmart - LookListings: Non-preferential pay-per-click with results appearing in main body of search results below sponsored listings. There is a US$29 setup fee then the first 5000 clicks/month are charged at US$0.15/click. After 5000 clicks the rate increase to between US$0.23 and US$0.40/click depending upon the category you are in. Listings are also shown on SearchMSN, WiseNut, Road Runner, CNET, and InfoSpace.

LookSmart - Sponsored Listings: Preferential pay-per-click with listings appearing above LookListings in search results. There is a US$15 setup fee then pay-per-click charges based on keyword bidding. Listings are also shown on SearchMSN, Road Runner, CNET, InfoSpace, Dogpile, Excite, and Mamma.

LookSmart Australia - LookListings: Although called LookListings, the Australian version is the same as the US Sponsored Listings, being keyword bidding for preferential listings at the top of the results. Listings are also shown on NineMSN, OptusNet, GoEureka, Yahoo Australia, Ozemail, and Anzwers.

LookSmart Australia - SmartListings: Preferential sponsored listing in LookSmart directories, as opposed to search results pages. A$440 per year per site (for up to 3 pages within the site). Listings are also shown on NineMSN, OptusNet, GoEureka, Yahoo Australia, Ozemail, Anzwers

Lycos - Fast: Preferential listing in search results. Also includes listing with HotBot, Terra, AllTheWeb, Overture, Infospace, Excite, and Dogpile. US$35.00 for the first site and US$15.00 for each site after that.

Overture - Pay For Performance: Pay-per-click involving keyword bidding for preferential listing placement on its large network of affilliated sites that include AOL Altavista, Excite, FreeServe, Go2Net, InfoSpace, MSNSearch, Yahoo, Dogpile, MetaCrawler, Search.com, WebCrawler, WebSearch and AllTheWeb. Listings appear labelled as "Sponsored Listings" within search engine results.

Overture - Site Match: A new product that combines paid listings in the new Yahoo site index with pay-per-click listings on the Yahoo subsidiary Overture, and also incorporating (and replacing) previous paid listing programs from AltaVista, Lycos Fast (HotBot, Terra, AllTheWeb, Infospace, Excite, and Dogpile) and Inktomi (About.com, Blue-Win, BlueYonder, BBC, Espotting.com, HotBot, InfoSpace, Kanoodle, MSN). Results are shown in the body of search listings. US$49 for the first URL, US$29 for each of the next 9 URL's, and then US$0.15 to $US0.30 per click.
